Position Summary

The position is for 9-months. There is also the possibility of summer teaching opportunities. The faculty member will teach online graduate courses using both synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods. The faculty member will collaborate on supporting the PK-12 school and district leadership programs by engaging in activities such as monitoring field experiences, scheduling classes, and discussing program evaluation and reporting. The program faculty member would be expected to maintain a campus presence of a minimum of 10 hours per week.Program faculty members advise students, conduct research and publish findings, engage with the Pk-12 school/district leadership research and education community, provide university and professional service, support students’ field experiences, and be a strong advocate for the program. All program faculty members engage as a collaborative leadership team to help maintain and extend program and department visibility, as well as, assist with program coordination activities. All faculty members engage in ongoing program improvement efforts based on data, the shifting needs of the students, and requirements for preparing students to be school/district leaders. The program is state accredited and the institution is nationally accredited. The overall goal of the program is to prepare school/district leaders to work in Pk-12 schools/districts and to obtain a school/district leadership license in Arkansas. The best candidate will be able to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. Job Duties and Responsibilities As a tenure-track position, the duties and responsibilities included the following primary duties: a) teach courses as assigned with the understanding that most, if not all courses, will be online courses taught in a synchronous format, b) engage in scholarly activities including individual and collaborative research resulting in publications and presentations, c) perform service to the department, college, university and profession, d) perform other duties and responsibilities include working collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, students, and campus leaders, and e) assist with activities that contribute to the success of the department and program including student recruitment, advising, and duties to help cover unexpected situations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Candidates should a) possess command of the discipline/program including emerging trends and issues, b) deliver effective instruction and assessment of student performance, c) engage in successful individual and collaborative research and scholarship, d) interact in a positive manner with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators, and e) assume leadership responsibilities for projects as appropriate. Skills Considered Essential for Success -Knowledge of the organization and administration of higher education.
-Knowledge of student development theory.
-Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations, and procedures.
-Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
-Ability to compile statistics into reports.
-Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as a part of a team.
-Ability to make sound judgments and assist in resolving student concerns.
-Effective interpersonal communication, writing, and organizational abilities.
-Civility in all interactions of a public or confidential nature.
-Demonstrate follow-up contacts and consultations in a timely manner. Required Education and/or Experience The formal education of a doctorate or terminal degree required. Preferred Education and/or Experience Experience in both school and district level administrative roles; K-12 teaching experience; experience teaching graduate courses in the field of P-12 educational leadership; record of scholarly accomplishment and record of service to the field. License(s)/Certifications (Required or Preferred) Valid license as a school/district administrator in any state (preferred).
