Environmental Specialist (NEPA Compliance)

Skelly and Loy, A Terracon Company is seeking an entry level Environmental Specialist to assist in the preparation of NEPA documents, including CEs, EAs, and EISs, as well as technical reports, memoranda and public engagement materials. Skelly and Loy's NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) experts are industry-leaders in environmental compliance working for a variety of local, state, and federal public and private clients. Our goal is to provide simple, streamlined solutions to complex policy and regulatory obstacles to achieve sustainable development.

The entry level Environmental Specialist must possess strong written and verbal communication skills with a desire to develop a strong understanding of state and federal environmental regulations and policies. The applicant will support existing projects, coordinate with subject matter experts, conduct background research, complete necessary field work, and adhere to budgets and schedules. Attention to detail is critical along with the ability to prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple, fast-paced projects.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Contribute to the development of environmental planning documents, including CEs, EAs, and EISs, as well as technical reports, memoranda, and public engagement materials. Collect, analyze, and report on various resource areas including aquatic, terrestrial, manmade, cultural, social and economic resources potentially affected by the proposed action. Coordinate various tasks in support of achieving NEPA clearance. Develop environmental resource graphics for public and agency consumption. Attend and participate in public meetings and hearings. Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection or assignments. Communicate scientific and technical information to the Project Manager. Develop written proposals for approval by senior level professionals. Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related science field and a minimum 1 year related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. Preferred Certification: Certification in field of expertise.
