Job Summary

Responsible for preparing and coordinating the design and layout of advertising material.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Manages and coordinates bi-monthly special flyers. Establishes schedules to meet deadlines for production and works with/coordinates the efforts of others as necessary to meet deadlines. Works with merchandisers and advertising directors to paginate and review products and/or promotions for inclusion. Follows through with design and layout. Administers databases, including photos, bookmarks, vendor contacts, and PDF archives. Performs regular maintenance of computer and output systems. Makes all corrections and updates to existing product lines. Enters new products for catalog inclusion. Prepares copies by assembling facts and proofing. Prepares art by acquiring images of products and logos and prepares photos for inclusion in layout. Prepares and delivers final pages to printer. Works with billing department to ensure proper and timely payment. Assists in production of the Buyer's Guide, including database management, layout, design, photo, copy, and pre-press production. Researches, evaluates, and installs software and hardware for the advertising department. Recommends software and hardware upgrades to manager. Produces trade publication advertisements, store displays, tool time tags, equipment tags, store promotional materials, trade show flyers, and special event flyers. Orders necessary supplies and sets up service calls for department equipment and systems.

Nature and Scope

Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data. Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process. May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
