The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for routine duties in the hospital pharmacy, including the preparation and distribution of medications, and related clerical functions, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Pharmacy Student Intern-Eligible.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and distribute medications under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, which may include non-hazardous and hazardous sterile compounding

2. Procure and receive medications

3. Perform clerical functions related to the preparation, distribution, procurement and receipt of medications

4. Assure proper storage conditions for medications and manage inventory to maintain in-date product

5. Perform all other related duties as assigned

Accountabilities for all Employees:

Adheres to the Hutchinson Health Employee Values. Maintains confidentiality of the organization and patients. Reports any health/medical errors. Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.

Education, Training or Degree Required:

Completion of MN Board of Pharmacy-accepted pharmacy technician training program, or willingness to complete training on site within 12 months of hire. Ongoing continuing education per MN Board of Pharmacy requirements

Experience and Skills:  (indicate preferred or required)

1. Pharmacy or medical experience preferred

2. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and precision required

3. Ability to learn new computer system and technology required
