Proliant Settlement Systems is currently looking for a full-time Title Examiner. This person should be friendly, organized, attentive to detail, and able to work as part of a team as well as independently.


The Title Examiner examines public records of real property to determine whether the title is free of defeats by researching title resources and other public records; analyzes data to prepare title commitments, pro forma policies, and endorsements. Examiners must be able to operate in an environment with tight deadlines and strict standards.

Compensation:

$22 - $26 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Examines titles of routine to some complexity in accordance with company, underwriter, and local examining procedures to determine the status of the title. Abstracts and analyzes deeds, deeds of trust/mortgages, easements, judgments, tax assessments, mineral reservations, and other applicable instruments.
  • Researches title resources and other public records. Compile searched data and issue a commitment based on the status of the title.
  • Provides effective underwriting solutions in order to complete a transaction.
  • Guides customer and/or escrow officer through the closing process.
  • Search deed and judgment records using various county software and websites.
  • Check bankruptcies and the Patriot Act blacklist website on property owners.
  • Regular attendance and physically present at workplace location.
Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in searching and abstracting the status of title to real property having an overall familiarity with title plant, register of deed records, and other sources used in established searching procedures; of the purpose and use of title insurance; and of the legal terminology used in the searching of title to, and descriptions of, real property.
  • Ability to locate, to compile accurately, and to interpret information affecting the status of title to real property; to make arithmetic computations; and to draw out legal descriptions.
  • Analytical ability sufficient to perform tasks that are varied and short term requiring concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in person, and by telephone.
