JOB DESCRIPTION

CLASSIFICATION: CERTIFIED EXEMPT

JOB TITLE: DEAN

REPORTS TO: SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

CALENDAR: TEACHER CALENDAR (may be extended year)

RANGE: CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL

Job Goal

The dean position is designed to support the administrative and instructional functions of the school site under the direction of the school principal due to high student enrollment. Dean positions are approved annually with a maximum length of three years.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in related area Principal Certification or currently enrolled in an administrative certification program Minimum of five years of exemplary classroom teaching at the elementary level

Core Job Functions

The School Dean performs administrative duties under the supervision of the school principal Assistant Superintendent to include, but not limited to:

Administer student discipline Assist with curriculum and staff development Work with parents and community members to enhance positive community relations Conduct teacher evaluations Supervise staff Supervise and coordinate student activities May manage and oversee athletic activities Lead building initiatives Perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor Core
