PRIMARY PURPOSE :
The Athletic Director will support the district in providing administrative leadership in planning, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing school-level athletic directors and athletic programs for middle and high schools in Newton County Schools. Requires evening and weekend commitments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education
Bachelor's degree in education, sports management, or a related field.Certification/License
Must be eligible for GaPSC certification upon employment. Valid driver's license and availability for private transportation, required. Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) certification, preferred. Certified Master Athletic Administrator certification, preferred.Work Experience
5 years of successful experience as a coach/educator required. 5 years of school/district level athletic responsibilities at the secondary level is preferred. Consideration will also be given to individuals with post-secondary coaching and athletic administration experience at the collegiate level.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
Organizes meetings with school-level Athletic Directors to ensure knowledge of and compliance with district, state, and national practices, procedures, and regulations. Attends national, state, and local conferences to share and receive best practices regarding youth sports/athletics. Assists in the vetting and purchasing of vendor products and platforms used by district and school-level athletic departments. Responsible for ensuring all school-level Athletic Directors have Emergency Action Plans for various athletic facilities. Provides for and encourages opportunities for school-level athletic directors and coaches to participate in clinics, workshops, staff development, and state and national conferences to share best practices. Maintains records of coaching assignments for supplements for assigned schools. Coordinates scheduling and administration of events/activities, including regular season and playoff tournament officials. Reviews and approves all transportation requests for athletic competitions. Attends games and athletic functions as a member of Newton County Schools. Coordinates events at NCS-owned facilities, including stadiums. Prepares reports as required by the supervisor. Ensure compliance with district policies, state athletic association rules, and safety regulations. Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure facilities, including fields, gyms, and locker rooms meet safety and operational standards. Manage facility rental agreements with external organizations. Collaborate with school administrators, parent groups, and community organizations to promote athletics within the district. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by athletic events and meetings. Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of Georgia High School Association (GHSA) rules and Title IX Demonstration of strong leadership skills to work as part of an administrative team. Able to promote and support student activities as well as staff needs. Possess problem-solving skills to support school-level athletic administrators, coaches, and students’ success. Able to show service-related people skills. Verbal and communication skills Organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position. Technology skills in the areas of office software, student database systems, and office equipment operation.-
