ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collaborates with school and central office leadership, professional development learning committees, and School Division employees to identify professional learning needs; Collaborates with the Director of Professionals to utilizes the PDSA cycle to establish professional learning priorities based on VDOE and Division initiatives, needs assessments, student outcomes, and additional feedback, and updates the ACPS professional learning framework as warranted; Co-constructs pragmatic and impactful strategies to address key organizational development needs by designing, implementing, and maintaining professional learning programs; Supports the implementation of a comprehensive and systematic professional learning program for all Division employees; Supports the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan to engage school division constituencies in professional learning activities; Supports the development of new hire engagement through orientation and long-term onboarding programs, increasing the results of professional learning initiatives to employee self-efficacy and retention; Researches, coordinates, develops, and designs instructor-led and virtual learning offerings; Supports the Director of Professional Learning in the management, preparation, and execution of learning programs by designing appropriate resources; such as course materials, guides, and training procedures; Researches and identifies additional funding sources; Manages the functionality, and utilization of professional learning management systems and websites; Develops and maintains an annual calendar of professional learning events and programs; Collaborates with the Director of Professional Learning, hires, develops, and supervises the Instructional Coaches; Maintains currency in the field through research and participation in regional, state, and national professional development activities; May represent the division in local, state, and national professional learning organizations; Collaborates and connects with, builds trust with, and influences team members at all levels; Supports instructional coaches as they work with teachers to enhance teaching practices, improve student learning outcomes, and promote professional development; Collaborates with the Director of Professional Learning to oversee a team of instructional coaches, providing mentorship, support, and guidance in their professional development; Supports regular team meetings to discuss coaching strategies, share best practices, and address challenges; Ensures clear expectations and performance goals for instructional coaches and provides ongoing feedback and evaluation; Collaborates with the Director of Professional Learning to develop and facilitate training sessions and workshops for instructional coaches to enhance their coaching skills, content knowledge, and understanding of instructional strategies; Fosters positive relationships with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to promote a collaborative coaching culture Other duties as assigned

* The mission, vision and priorities of the school division; organizational structure, operations, programs, policies, procedures, philosophy, mission, goals and objectives; * Remain strategic and analytical while diagnosing individual, team, and organizational needs at all levels; * Demonstrate clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, and community; * Effective teaching and learning theory and strategies; * Adult learning theory and best practices; * Principles of effective instructional design; * Use technology effectively including learning management systems and instructional technology; * Evaluation and assessment methods; Instruction & learning strategies; * Operational characteristics, services, and activities of the functions, programs, and operations of the assigned area; * Effective visual, written, verbal, inquiry, and deep listening skills; Communicate effectively using both oral and written communication skills; Ability to speak and moderate on specific topics to large groups; * Effective and engaging speaking skills that incorporate visual, written, inquiry and listening aspects; * Problem solving and team building; Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with others; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the division to include administrators and teachers; * Record-keeping and report preparation techniques; * Supervise budget preparation and administration of budget; * Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; * Principles and practices of effective administration, supervision and training including instructional coaching; * Interpersonal skills, use of tact, patience and courtesy; * Problem solving and conflict resolution in an academic environment; * Modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and software applications. * Strong organizational skills; works independently to complete projects and assignments timely; * Select, supervise, train, and evaluate staff; prioritize and assign work to meet deadlines; * Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, policies, rules, and regulations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a Master’s degree in education, human resources development, or five years of a related field and be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License. Must possess experience as a teacher and school administrator, central office leader, or other leadership experience including some experience instructing adults. Instructional coaching experience preferred,


PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

Work is typically performed in an office setting, primarily with office equipment and files; occasional light lifting, and other limited physical activities. Occasional operation of automated computer office equipment is required. Frequent travel to school sites throughout the County and occasional statewide or regional travel is required. Attendance at meetings outside the normal duty hours is frequently required; regular involvement with principals and teachers throughout the division is typical. Usually, there is a need to motivate, establish rapport, gain support, persuade or influence individuals and groups. Contacts often require tact and discretion. Contacts within State agencies are frequently required. Contacts with the School Board, Advisory Councils, faculties and students, parents, and the general public on behalf of the Superintendent are regularly required.
