Cardiac Device Technician

TheCardiacDeviceCenterisadedicatedambulatoryclinicprovidingoutpatient,long-term, regularly scheduled, and remotemanagement ofpatients withcardiac implantable electrical devices (CIEDs).
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Medical Director, the Cardiac Device Technician will assistinthemanagement ofallpatientswithCIEDs.Primarilythedailyreview and documentation of remote pacemaker, ICD, and implantable loop recorder (ILR) transmissionsand alerts. This ambulatory settingrequires theDeviceTechnologisttoworkin a patient centric environmentwitha team approach todelivery of care. The Device Technologist must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in order to maximize the clinical relationship with the physician providers, independent licensed providers (NP/PA), clinical administrative staff, and other device center staff.
Dailyreviewanddocumentationofremotetransmission AppropriatecommunicationoffindingsrequiringfurtherattentionwithresponsibleMDor NP/PA. Enrollment,education,scheduling, andmaintenanceofpatients invariousremotemonitoring systems (Carelinkâ, Latitudeâ, Merlinâ, Biotronikâ) Assistswithmanagementandmaintenanceoftheremotemonitoringprogram(Carelinkâ, Latitudeâ, Merlinâ, Biotronikâ). Responsibilities include:oTriaging reportsonadaily basis
oPatientnotificationoffollow-up
oAssistspatientswithtransmissionsoverthephone
oTroubleshootissueswiththeremotemonitoringsystems
oAssistswithdevicesadvisories/recalls
oSeeksassistancefromdeviceindustryrepresentativesasneeded.

Providesassistanceinschedulingandotheradministrativedutiesrelatedtothedevicecenter
·Assistswith‘offschedule’orPRNin-persondeviceinterrogationsindeviceclinic
·Interrogate, interpret, andprogramawiderangeofcardiacdeviceswithminimalprovider supervision.
·When performing in-person interrogations, the device technician is responsible activities associatedwithroomingapatient. Thesemayincludebut arenotlimitedto:Collectionof patients from waitingarea, VitalSigns, 12-lead electrocardiogram, assisting incheck-out process.
·Troubleshootcardiacdeviceissues andtakeimmediatesteps towardresolution
Collaboratewithphysician/nursepractitionerregardingdevicestatusandaccurately document device analysis for review.·Educatepatients onall aspectsoftheirdeviceincludingremotemonitoringandfollow-up protocol.
•Serveasresourcetoprovidersandotheremployeesregardingdevicepatientsand services.
•Keepequipment ingoodworkingconditionandnotifyappropriatepersonnel ofproblem areas or safety issues.
•Participateinprofessionaldevelopmentactivitiesandmaintainprofessionalaffiliations.
•Accountableforfollowingtheguidelinesforattendance,punctualityandoverall dependability.
•Performsotherduties as assigned.
Qualifications
·HighSchoolDiplomaorequivalentrequired.
·Bachelor’sdegreeinengineeringinthebiomedicalfieldstronglypreferred.
·SuccessfulcompletionofafullCardiacDeviceEducationalProgram(i.e.,PrepMD)or, one year’s experience in Electrophysiology is strongly preferred
·Currentexperiencereviewingandmanagingremotedevicetransmissions is strongly preferred.
Certificationby IHBREwithintwoyearsof employment is strongly preferred and encouraged but not mandatory
·CurrentBLScertificationrequired.
·ACLS certification is required within the first year of employment
