Student Worker Visual Performing Arts Student Technical Manager Academic Year 2024

Job Summary/Basic Function
This position will serve to assist in the planning and implementation of technical production elements for OVPA shows and events at the Ware Center and Winter Center. The Student Technical Manager will participate in departmental meetings, work calls, load-ins/outs, maintenance and repair of equipment, and more. The Student Technical Manager will also serve to lead working crews consisting of other students. This position will be meaningfully involved in all aspects of technical production and will be expected to fully participate. Required Qualifications At least one year working with OVPA as a Support Technician. Ability to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week. Ability to work evening, weekend, and daytime hours around class schedule. Experience with live audio, lighting, video, or other theatrical systems. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions accurately. A positive attitude and willingness to learn. Preferred Qualifications Supervisory Experience Job Duties Attend and participate in production meetings as scheduled. Review, plan and implement technical production needs for assigned performances and events. Communicate questions and needs to appropriate OVPA staff members. Lead student crews in load-in/out and other work calls. Assist in scheduling student crews. Assist in cleaning, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Participate in inventory, project planning, and other departmental needs as assigned. Assist in training of student Support Technicians. Ensure the safety of personnel, guests, equipment, and facilities at all times. Ensure the highest level of implementation of all production aspects of assigned events. Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work at the times scheduled. Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints)Working Conditions and Physical Effort Ability to lift 50 lbs. Work areas will often be loud, with various lighting conditions from darkness to bright and flashing lights. Ability to work daytime, evenings, and weekends.
