Software Engineering Manager, Bidding

An Important Note about Wayfair's In-Office Policy:
Please note that this is a hybrid role based in Boston, and will require you to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Who We Are:
The Bidding & Decisioning team builds solutions that constantly optimize hundreds of millions of dollars of Wayfair’s Ad Spend. Our solutions leverage extensive first party data and ML driven approaches to maximize ROI on our Ad Spend by optimizing bids, ad content (including optimizing Gen AI driven creatives) and campaign structure across multiple advertising platforms including Google, Meta, Pinterest and Tiktok. This role provides a great opportunity for strong leaders to materially impact billions of dollars in revenue, partnering closely with business and data science teams to build innovative technology platforms that deploy AI at scale. This is a role with broad responsibilities spanning team management, architecture oversight, and cross-functional leadership and has a lot of room for growth.

What You'll Do:
- Lead one or more engineering teams. Manage, mentor and coach team members to help them reach their highest potential
- Partner as a thought leader with your Product, Data Science and Marketing peers to define the direction for your platform and build the roadmap for your team
- Own the technical vision for the team’s systems, including the full lifecycle of ML models in partnership with the science team (including data and feature engineering)
- Use significant depth and breadth of technical expertise to ensure platforms being built are scalable, maintainable and extensible
- Own all aspect of effective, iterative delivery of roadmap product features
We Are A Match Because You Have:
- . or equivalent experience in computer science/related field
- 6+ years of software engineering experience including designing large scale systems leveraging big data
- 4+ years managing a high performance engineering team
- Experience with Java and/or Python, relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems
- Experience partnering closely with data science/machine learning teams, working through the full lifecycle of ML models
- Experience making architectural and design-related decisions for large scale platforms.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders alike
