Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Job Location: Hackensack, NJ 07601
Facility: Hackensack University Medical Center
Duration: 13 weeks of contract (extendable)
Shift: 12 hrs./day & 36 hrs./ week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy

Certifications:

  • Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license and Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS/CPR by American Heart Association
  • ACLS.

Skills:

  • 1+ years of ICU experience.
  • Previous experience with ventilators

Responsibilities:

  1. Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, & diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system.
    2. Performing Intubation assistance as well as Ventilator set-up & management.
    3. Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient’s needs, including patient specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other health care professionals, as appropriate.
    4. Developing a rapport and mutual respect with the patient/caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement.
    5. Provides and documents education to patients/caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner.
    6. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
    7. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behaviour.
    8. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day. Contacts: Regular contact with medical personnel and its visitors..
