Summary
The Patient Care Tech. assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic nursing care to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of the patient, and serves as a clinical preceptor to Nursing Assistants & PCT’s and is cross-trained to Unit Associate. Assists with maintenance of a safe and clean unit environment. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent.REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant certification from an approved program, Florida-issued CNA license, or completion of first semester of Registered Nurse program. Required: BLS certification from the American Heart Association. CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer into role date.#LI-NW1

The Nurse Tech assists in the care of patients and in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patients and staff. May function as the unit secretary, responsible for correct and timely order transcription, maintenance of the medical record, inventory management, and clerical duties as assigned.
A pleasant, reassuring atmosphere is provided for patients and families. All patients are treated with respect while maintaining their privacy and confidentiality. Patient rounds are performed at ordered intervals, as defined by the patient population, to ensure adequate supplies are available, the patient is comfortable, and the call bell is within reach. Catheters and collection devices are emptied each shift or as necessary, and characteristics/volume are reported. Assists in Indirect Patient Care Functions and transport. Transcribes physicians' orders in a timely manner.
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Preferred: 6 months of related experience.
Certifications:
Required: CNA certification in current state. AHA BLS.
