Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Quality Technician conducts the inspection of incoming parts and supplies used for manufacture or distribution of products. The Quality Technician also conducts the setup and testing of product and components.

Essential Functions

Inspect products using calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, colorimeters and other appropriate measuring equipment as containers are being unloaded. Generate spreadsheets for data collection. Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments as needed Test incoming materials as needed. Perform and review inline product inspections in production area (52 Heppner) to ensure parts produced meet specifications. Ensure all nonconforming product is controlled and placed in MRB area. Lead routine meetings of products in MRB, communicate discrepancies of part vs print, and transact scrap material as needed. Maintain documentation of all product inspections; including material certs. Perform and document in-house product tests at direction of the Quality Manager. Maintain security and control of QC gage, test, and measuring equipment. Identify, evaluate and assist in implementation of corrective actions related to product quality concerns. Assist with FAI’s and production sample inspections at the direction of the Quality Manager. Must be able to clearly communicate findings from inspections, to multiple departments as well as vendors in a timely manner.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and email. This position will also be expected to use typical engineering equipment such as optical comparator along with typical measurement devices like calipers, scales and force gauges. This job may also require the use of various test equipment and hand tools to test or mount various products.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent. Background in Quality measurement, familiarity with measurements tools, NDE (nondestructive examination) experience preferred. Experience with reading and evaluating Engineering drawings preferred. General computer skills and ability to maneuver within ERP systems and Microsoft Office. Ability to utilize various QC inspection devices and measurement tools. Ability to operate a forklift; or willingness to learn.
