Description

The Translational Lab (; PI: Pete Hitchcock) in the Department of Psychology at Emory University is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow. The lab mission is to understand when and why decision-making goes awry in depression and anxiety disorders and to develop potent and scalable interventions to improve it. We use carefully designed experimental tasks, and reinforcement learning and sequential sampling models thereof, to understand individual differences and psychotherapy-relevant clinical principles. We also plan to develop brief self-guided interventions over the coming years.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to design experiments, analyze and model data, present and publish findings, apply for external funding, and help mentor and train other lab members. The position is a great fit for someone looking to build skills and publication record while preparing for an independent research career.

Required skills or qualifications:

A PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or a related field

The ideal candidate would have some combination of:

experience with computational modeling or advanced quantitative methods strong programming skills knowledge of the mechanisms of depression and anxiety disorders knowledge of psychotherapy treatments
