Essential Functions:
As a service advisor, you will be responsible for communicating with customers to determine which repairs are necessary, submitting work orders to technicians, communicating with the parts department to order parts, and collecting payment after repairs are completed.
As the primary contact, you will be scheduling repairs and maintenance on vehicles while acting as a liaison between the customer and the auto technicians who work on their vehicle. Must identify the need for, sell and schedule automotive service work.
Essential Duties:
- Complete all required documentation and file in accordance with company policy.
- Greet and develop an ongoing relationship with customers.
- Help customers care for and maintain their vehicles.
- Set up service appointments that align with the customer and technicians’ schedules.
- Serve as liaison between the service manager, shop foreman, parts personnel, technicians, and warranty administration.
- Support dealership goals for service by generating high sales of services and parts.
- Inspect vehicles and apply proper resources to accurately identify and verify vehicle mileage and service needs.
- Provide customers with information on part warranties and potential savings
- Identify repeat repairs in customer’s best interest.
- Work with technicians to determine necessary repairs and possible alternatives to cut costs for the customer.
- Administer new and used vehicle warranty repairs and possible alternatives to cut costs for the customer.
- Administer new and used vehicle warranty repairs in accordance with warranty specifications.
- Write and verify accurate repair orders and include supporting documentation.
- Supervise cleaning and preparation of new and used vehicles.
- Contact customers to keep them in the loop throughout the repair process and communicate when the vehicle is ready for pickup
- Meet requirements of state and federal law for auto repair and consumer protection.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to listen to customers and make them feel valued and heard.
- Must follow and complete dealership checklists for every customer.
- Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player who is focused on providing quality customer service.
- Test drive customer vehicle or confer with service technician to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Desired Skills/Abilities:
- Automotive knowledge
- Ability to quickly review, research, and resolve variances when needed.
- Thoroughness, accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness in completing essential duties.
Experience and Education:
- Technology- Google Chrome, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows 10 or newer
- Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents in the English Language.
The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. - Automotive Technology education or experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend, stretch, reach, stoop, kneel, balance, stand, and lift for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to lift 5-10 pounds frequently and 30 lbs.
infrequently. - Near Vision – The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Working Conditions:
- Various frequencies of employee interactions during the day due to shared office space.
- Communicate with people inside and outside the organization, and represent the organization to customers, the public, and government officials.
