A Brief Overview
The Oncology RN is responsible for coordinating patient care. Assesses information that is given to them from the patient via phone or in person, communicating information to providers and obtains orders if needed. Provides triaging to patients with symptom management and provides recommendations from the provider. Administration of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy treatments to patients. Oncology assessment and lab assessment to determine if meets criteria for treatment. Close collaboration with provider for best patient care.

Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Experience Qualifications
1 year Experience in acute care. Preferred

Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse - KSBN Required Basic Life Support - BLS RQI or other certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department. Must have within 90 days of hire. Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificat - ONS Must obtain within 90 days or hire and prior to administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Preferred Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)- Magnet - ONCC-Magnet Preferred
What you will do
Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting. Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential problems, and issues. Develops a collaborative plan encompassing strategies to achieve expected outcomes. Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation. Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employs strategies to promote health and wellness. Promote infection prevention through use of standard precautions, proper procedure in dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene and cleanliness of the patient rooms/department Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect. Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas, supports the effectiveness of professional relationships, and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice.
