Provides resident care support under the direction of a licensed therapist. Assists residents to participate in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance their performance. A restorative aide’s duties and responsibilities include assisting patients with transfers, walking, strength training, and range of motion exercises, documenting service and changes in the patient’s conditions, assisting patients with dressing or grooming, applying and monitoring splinting, and helping with amputation and prosthesis care.
Responsible for carrying out individual restorative programs designed by the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist. Communicates observations of residents' conditions, preventing residents' neglect, abuse, and violations of rights and privacy, and promoting continuity of care through accurate and timely documentation and reporting. Sanitization of whirlpools, tubs, and showers when used in restorative therapy, and assisting residents with ambulation and transfer as needed. Perform restorative care treatments. Encourage residents to perform or participate in daily ADL functions. Demonstrate to residents and staff, as necessary, the procedures involved in the treatment process. Recommend modifications and changes in the resident’s restorative care as indicated. Instruct and supervise resident during therapy. A brief resident of procedures involved in restorative care and prepare the necessary equipment. Prepare resident for treatment by dress/position and administer restorative care in accordance with established policies and procedures. Reassure resident before and during therapy treatment. Assure that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care. Ambulate residents in accordance with the resident’s plan of care. Provide a range of motion (ROM) in accordance with the resident’s plan of care. Position Requirements:
