Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directs and administers housekeeping activities.
• Directs and administers the housekeeping program to maintain the hospital premises in a clean and orderly way
• Establishes standards and work methods and schedules with due consideration to traffic, visiting hours and work to be completed.
• Formulates plans for improving housekeeping programs.
• Evaluates effectiveness of housekeeping program; studies new cleaning methods, equipment and supplies and requisition experimental quantities; makes revisions and incorporates new methods and techniques.
• Is responsible for maintenance of housekeeping standards to effect germicidal control.
• Maintains relationships with professional, administrative and maintenance staff of the center.
• Makes inspections to determine if cleanliness standards are being maintained.
• Is responsible for maintaining records; prepares reports.
• Promotes a positive and pleasant attitude conducive to the workplace, which enhances and furthers the Mission, Vision and Value Statement.
• Meet all compliance standards/requirements such as annual physical evaluation/assessment; Multi-Star Training; Right-To-Know Training; Fire Drill Preparation, etc.
• Responsible for enhancing your personal and professional development. Attendance at outside and NYC HEAL TH + HOSPITALS training sessions is expected.
• Responsible for wearing professional attire to the workplace as well as during off site work, when conducting business on behalf of the NYC HEALTH+ HOSPITALS.
• Must exhibit flexibility within the NYC HEAL TH+ HOSPITALS, as it pertains to work assignment, workplace, site designation and Tour of Duty.
• Adhere to the Vision/Mission/and Value Statement of the Organization in all endeavors and interactions.
• Ensure that staff follows all approved policies and procedures.
• Conduct timely annual performance evaluations of staff, including skill competency standards.
• Review and approve time sheets.
• Perform related duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Six (6) months of experience as a Senior Housekeeper or as a lead or supervising housekeeper for a large organization, such as a hospital, hotel, office or residential building; and
2. Successful completion of the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory Training within three (3) months of appointment.
