Job Title: Environmental Services & Tote Washing Technician

Department: Warehouse

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

Accountable for, preventative maintenance, cleaning the warehouse floor, placing totes into the tote washing machine, interacting as part of the Tote Washing team, etc. Duties include pallet maintenance (sort/segregate/load/unload and count/verification of pallet load counts). Minimizes the cardboard and plastic that is collected by compacting and baling it for recycling.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists employees with battery changes and charges batteries in rotating cycle for all equipment as needed. Runs compactor and baler for all cardboard & plastic. Pallet maintenance (sort/segregate/load/unload and count/verification of pallet load counts). Removes trash from warehouse floor and fills in for office housekeeping as needed. Remove cleaned dotes from tote washer and stack on pallets. Place empty totes in the tote washing machines.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: (These are considered occasional in nature)

Washes batteries, cleans up battery spills and work area. Reports problems to supervisors. Work performed with little or no supervision. Follows safety and conduct rules, other regulations, and observes good housekeeping practices. Ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, subordinate and/or outside contacts. Seeks out new assignments and expands capabilities, personality, and professionally. Performs other job related duties and special projects as required. Adheres to company polices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions. Must be able to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Must be able to copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; evaluate technical data; and guide people and provide direction.

Education and Experience:

High school or equivalent experience.

Zero to one year similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, crawling, feeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, bending, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in a warehouse setting. There is exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemical or solvents, and electrical shock. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Pallet jacks, forklifts, baler, compactor, battery chargers, volt and amp meters, power washer, walker and forklift.
