Overview

The primary function of the Internal Audit Intern is to execute reviews of policies and procedures, complete walkthroughs/interviews, and control testing, as part of internal audit activities. This position will be responsible for assisting the Internal Audit Administrator and Risk Management Department, on individual audit assignments including risk assessment, special projects, various other internal audit projects, and continuous improvement projects, as assigned by and under the direction of the Internal Audit Administrator.

Responsibilities

Assist in the coordination of audits, reviews, and other projects. Participate in audit meetings. Take notes and document audit activities. Prepare and organize workpapers. Demonstrate critical thinking skills to identify critical risks and understand interrelationships among different risk factors and categories. Communicate effectively through multiple mediums (electronic and in-person), write clearly and effectively, and document findings appropriately and completely. Execute assigned tasks and responsibilities timely with the highest level of professionalism. Demonstrate credibility with business partners and leadership, appropriately influence business decisions, and exercise strong business judgment. Completing risk assessments, analyzing results, and documenting and reporting results to management. Demonstrate an ability to work independently but seek appropriate input and feedback. Identify opportunities to create additional value for internal business team members and partners through continuous improvement. Performs additional miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The candidate should have or be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Data Informatics, Economics, or a related field. General knowledge of MS Office required, intermediate or advanced knowledge preferred. General knowledge of financial institution operations preferred since this position will interact with many different business lines.

Performance Standard:

Must be able to work independently and communicate with management and personnel from multiple business lines. Ability to create and accurately portray results in written form for all levels of management. Professional appearance, and dependable with attendance, quality, and quantity of work performed. Must comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act as implemented by Idaho Central Credit Union.

Physical Requirements:

Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, typing, counting cash, etc.). Sit for extended periods of time. Lift 20-40 pounds of applicable supplies including but not limited to copy paper, cash drawers, marketing material, etc. Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers. Reach keyboards. Ability to operate basic office machines (calculator, computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).
