Zebra is looking for an Advanced Optical Engineer to join our growing team

 

You will be responsible for designing, developing, building, and testing systems and products based on optic, photonic and laser technologies. You will interact with device, hardware, and software design teams to assist in overall development of optical systems, specifying, selecting and qualifying an active and passive optical component, developing and benchmarking system performance models, developing and implementing test procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation.


Responsibilities:
  • Establishes requirements for highly complex Optical design projects and may lead a team responsible for establishing requirements. Insure correct features are incorporated first in the projects. Insures correct features are incorporated first in the projects
  • Architects and designs highly complex Optical design projects. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities
  • Creates new programs, technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Insures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by the team
  • Uses status as a knowledge leader in optical design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to provide technical leadership to a given program
  • Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems
  • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines
  • Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • May coordinate the activities of other personnel
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with 5+ years’ experience in Optical Engineering.
  • Experienced in at least one of the following areas Imaging Optics, Illumination Optics, Interferometry, Optical Metrology and Laser Optics.
  • Experience in Lense design and manufacturing is a big plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline and 4+ years’ experience in optical Engineering
  • Must have deep understanding from the design phase through manufacturing
  • Ability to come up with innovative design concepts

Salary: USD 117700.00 - USD 176500.00 Yearly


Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
