JOB TITLE : Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant DEPARTMENT: HomeCare WEEKLY HOURS: 2 (total of 8 hours/month) SHIFT: 1st JOB SUMMARY : Under the general direction of the Physical Medicine Director and the direct supervision of department occupational therapists, organizes and administers prescribed occupational therapy programs in an effort to reduce and/or prevent disability to help patients achieve their maximum functional potential. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs occupational therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated by the supervising occupational therapist in the plan of care to include but not be limited to, splinting, exercise, heat and cold applications, massage, hydrotherapy, ADLs. Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart or enters information into computer. Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment and home program. Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan. Consults with supervising therapist reporting patient status and recommendations. Maintains professional growth by attendance of department meetings, interview and educational conferences. Includes participation in hospital orientation and departmental and community interview education and programs as directed. Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs. QUALIFICATIONS : Education : 1. Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program required. 2. Licensure by the state of Connecticut required. 3 . Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required. Experience : Minimum one-year clinical experience preferred.
