Job Description

As a Pavement Marking Specialist, you are responsible for understanding and performing all duties related to the pavement marking process. Including, but not limited to driving and operating of Thermoplastic Equipment.

Pay Rate is based on experience. ( $20/hr – $25/hr ) 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Effectively operate the following Vehicles/Equipment: hand machines, forklift, hand grinder, Thermo hand liner, adhesive applicator tools, and pavement painting equipment

· Operates heavy duty trucks and tow trailers to transport materials and equipment to job sites

· Must be able to operate jack hammers, coring machines, augers.

· Must be able to understand and read blueprint plans

· Operate and perform maintenance and repair of all striping equipment, for striping on asphalt and concrete.

· Work with highway striping crew to install Preformed Thermoplastic and other pavement marking materials

· Properly load and unload materials from trucks and trailers by hand and forklift

· Understanding of MUTCD (manual uniform traffic control devices) minimum requirements and all City specs.

· Assist with the painting of various pavement marking surfaces

· Assist with thermoplastic and its proper application

· Assist with laying and installing hot tape

· Mark out various traffic lanes, parking stalls, and/or prefabricated materials

· Set up and take down traffic control signs at job sites

· Understand traffic control to set lane closures up for striping.

· Complete DVIRs and Daily Logs correctly for Drivers

· Follow all Safety Policies and Procedures

· Obtain ATSSA and state-specific certifications

· All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or GED completion

· Must be able to and enjoy connecting with field-level customers and contacts

· Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills

· Must adhere to and promote safe workplace practices

· Valid Driver’s License

· A sound understanding of the applicable installation methods, materials, and safety measures.

· The ability to operate hand and power tools.

· Willingness to work during evenings and on weekends, as needed.

· Typical work week 40+ hours

· The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt

· Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving vehicles, and occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites

· Position may lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds

· If necessary, in the field, stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; employee lifts pushes, pulls, or carries objects
