Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide base operations support through the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment vital to the Electrical Distribution System on USAFA.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for all generators, automatic transfer switched (ATS), synchronization gears and light carts; refueling support services to enable refueling of all operational generators on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct inspections and perform maintenance as required.
  • Performs scheduled periodic maintenance on systems and components, and adjusts generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current frequency and/or synchronization.
  • Identifies, records and repairs generator malfunctions by removing, repairing and/or replacing defective power generating components.
  • Perform work from blueprints, drawings, and operating a variety of electrician’s hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawing to maintain associate equipment.
  • Transport equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned,

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have knowledge of principles of electronics and electricity including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization.
  • Must have at least three (3) years’ related experience.
  • Must have Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules and under pressure of deadlines while maintaining performance standards.
  • Ability to use good judgment when making decisions within the scope of authority.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with others on the site.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, convey information, and assist visitors to the facility.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
  • On a continuous basis, sit, stand, bend, climb ladders (up to 40 feet), stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist for varying periods in the course of work; use hands and fingers to grasp tools; make repetitive hand and body motions; twist and reach below and above shoulder; communicate with co-workers using cellular phones or telephones, write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; see in the normal vision range with or without correction to read computer screen, blueprints, and drafting plans; hear in the normal range with or without correction.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to work independently and interact well with others in a team setting.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
