YOUR ROLE

The Senior Accounting Policy Manager, reporting to the Assistant Controller, will be an instrumental member of the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Group. This position serves as an internal consultant to various functions and businesses regarding complex accounting matters. The role supports key transactions and initiatives through frequent interaction with leaders at various levels within the company. Additionally, this position will also selectively assist with the SEC and U.S. GAAP financial statements, including reviewing and writing footnote and Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures.

Serve as an internal expert, consultant and resource regarding complex accounting topics for unique, new or non-standard transactionsInteract with business and function leaders on matters impacting accounting, financial reporting and controllershipMonitor emerging accounting guidance (U.S. GAAP, U.S. Statutory Accounting Principles, SEC) and communicate potential changes and implications to various stakeholdersSelectively influence potential new accounting and capital rulesLead the assessment and oversee implementation of new technical accounting and financial reporting standardsDocument accounting policies and methodologiesResearch, resolve and document technical accounting and financial reporting matters presented by business and function leadersLead annual reviews of complex accounting areas (e.g., embedded derivatives, variable interest entities)Communicate with all levels within the organization on technical accounting topics

What you bring

BS/BA degree in AccountingCPA or equivalentAt least 7 years of public accounting and/or financial services industry experienceStrong technical accounting and financial reporting skillsAbility to read, analyze and interpret accounting literature to support technical accounting conclusionsStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of management

SEC reporting experience (e.g., 10K, 10Q, 8-K)Insurance accounting experienceExperience with implementation of new accounting standards or interpreting existing accounting guidanceExperience with evaluating complex transactions and/or accounting guidance
