The School Physical Therapist will play a vital role in enhancing the overall well-being and functional abilities of students with physical challenges or disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of pediatric physical therapy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.Essential duties Provide comprehensive physical therapy assessments to evaluate students' motor skills, functional abilities, and mobility challenges. Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on students' needs, collaborating closely with students, their families, and other team members. Implement evidence-based physical therapy interventions and techniques to improve students' motor skills, balance, coordination, and overall physical function. Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive technology as needed to enhance students' participation and engagement in educational and recreational activities. Work closely with teachers and staff to integrate therapy goals into students' daily routines and classroom activities, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Document and maintain accurate records of assessment findings, treatment plans, progress reports, and communication with students, parents, and other professionals. Provide ongoing education and guidance to parents and caregivers on strategies to support students' physical development and progress at home. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, speech therapists, educators, and medical professionals, to ensure holistic and coordinated care for students. Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings and contribute insights to develop appropriate educational goals for students with physical challenges. Stay updated with advancements in pediatric physical therapy practices, research, and techniques to continuously enhance therapeutic approaches. Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture that values diversity, inclusion, and the well-being of all students.
The Qualifications Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program. State licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist is required. Experience in pediatric physical therapy, preferably in an educational or clinical setting, with a strong understanding of child development and motor skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals. Empathetic and patient-centered approach to working with students with diverse physical challenges and abilities.
