Laboratory Technician

Kelly Science and Clinical is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time, fully-benefitted Laboratory Technician in Lenexa, KS. The Mareks Manufacturing Technician assist in tissue and viral culture of Chicken Embryo Fibroblast CEF cells for Mareks Disease vaccine production in a clean room laboratory environment.
Pay: $21/hr with $2/hr shift differential for weekend hours worked – see below.
Hours:
Weekend shift:
Sat - Wed, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
OR
Rotating shift:
3 weeks: 530AM – 2PM, Mon – Fri, (OFF SAT and SUN)
1 week: 9AM – 530PM, Mon – Wed (OFF THURS and FRI), 9AM – 530PM, Sat - Sun
Must be willing work OT when necessary
Responsibilities:
Aseptic Technique:
All laboratory processes must be performed aseptically. Procedures take place under a Grade A Laminar Air Flow hood in a clean room laboratory
Clean room laboratory work: Requires daily gowning with sterile hooded coveralls, goggles, face-mask, two pairs of gloves, and clean room boot coverings
- Ability to understand and follow Mareks Laboratory SOPs, Quality Assurance SOPs, Mareks Laboratory Support SOPs, and other SOPs as applicable
- All procedures must be thoroughly documented, legible, and concurrent
- Performing and understanding of basic tissue and viral culture
Laboratory Support area:
- Dishware preparation outside of the clean room laboratory and helping with the process of placing filled ampoules on cryogenic vial canes
Mareks Disease vaccine production typically takes four days from start to finish, and the processing times range from early morning to late evenings as cultures are infected and harvested in specific time frames. Shift coverage can rotate unless otherwise specified
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field, preferred but not required
- Laboratory manufacturing experience, beneficial but not required
- Repetitions of squatting, bending, and twisting to remove tissue culture roller bottles from their culture racks
- Frequent fine motor movement opening of ampoules, operating a syringe, opening, and closing of twist cap roller bottles
