Machine Operator-

2nd shift position 3:30pm-12:00am

Title:  Trainee/Assistant Machine Operator

Pay Rate:  $19.00     

Location: Hudson 

Job Summary: 

The Material Handler /Warehousemen will perform a variety of routine shipping, receiving, production and housekeeping tasks. Shipping tasks include picking, packaging and shipment of orders. Receiving tasks include unloading truck shipments. Production tasks include material handling, labeling and packaging of product.  Assist in managing customers inventories, and inventory of some supplies used in production. Assist in the disposal of scrap containers.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School education, GED or equivalent of one year of  work experience as a Material Handler or Warehousemen
  • Advanced knowledge of crane operations including use of coil grabs, C-hook and sheet lifters
  • Must be certified to operate an overhead crane and trained to operate a tow motor, and a side loader.
  • Must have the basic computer skills and knowledge in receiving material, generating Bills of Lading, and updating sales/work orders, to back up the Shipping Clerk on our Enmark Toll Processing Software
  • Must be able to work accurately and in a safe manner
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to reach production goals

Duties:

* All aspects of metal slitting from staging to clean

* Prepares machine for production by staging rolls, cleaning the machines, guides, and floor.

* Regulates machining by setting and adjusting controls.

* Produces product by locating and setting reference points on work piece with rule, template, etc.; positioning or aligning work piece against stops and guides; operating equipment.

* Maintains specifications by observing operations; detecting malfunctions; inspecting parts; adjusting controls, checking coat weight of product

* Resolves production problems by altering process to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.

* Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs.

* Maintains stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.

* Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

* Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Working environment.

  • The employee is required to talk and hear, and is often required to stand, walk, and use their hands and fingers to reach, handle, grasp, stoop, kneel, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds. The job entails repetitive motion and requires good eye/hand/foot coordination. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, as well as material processing odors and dust.  The noise level in the plant work environment is often loud and the environment can be hot and humid in the summer.

Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screen
