SUMMARY:  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Tax and Compliance and according to established policies and procedures, the Tax & Accounting Administrator performs a variety of administrative and accounting duties in order to maintain accurate financial, tax and billing records and reports. Observes confidentiality of client and law office matters. Assists in preparation of financial analyses, budgets and reports. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual sales and use tax returns prepared by staff accountant. Prepare certain returns as necessary. 2.Review annual state and city personal property tax returns prepared by staff accountant and complete certain returns as necessary. 3.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns including but not limited to Delaware Gross Receipts Tax return, Washington Business & Occupation Tax return, and New York City Commercial Rent Tax Review quarterly fixed asset updates prepared by staff Prepare quarterly and annual state income tax Conduct annual partner tax survey re: state filing Prepare supporting schedules for the firm’s federal and state tax returns which are prepared by a third party provider, including book-to-tax reconciliation and state apportionment Responsible for distributing all K-1s including obtaining consent to distribute electronically where Reconcile partner tax withholdings with tax return payments Responsible for maintaining relevant POA and other required documentation for partner inclusion in state composite Manage the 1099 process for the firm (both incoming and outgoing).12.Monthly review of supporting tax data including meals & entertainment, nondeductible dues, charitable contributions, and political contributions 13.Complete annual insurance renewals (both general or professional liability)14.Perform tax research based on current and proposed tax legislation, including research on filing requirements for new jurisdictions due to attorney/staff travel and remote work. Complete applicable registrations for state income tax withholding and state unemployment Reviews special pay calculations monthly16.Conducts and reports on the annual Outside Income and SEC survey for all attorneys and reconciles results for General Counsel. 17.Prepares reports as requested by firm management18.Other duties as assigned. The employee must be able to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities of this position satisfactorily and as outlined, with or without reasonable accommodations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1.Knowledge of accounting and financial management principles in order to provide financial reports at a level normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent; CPA or CPA candidate Three to six years of progressively responsible public accounting work Understanding of partnership tax accounting and non-resident state Proficient with Microsoft Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff in person, by e-mail and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and Analytical skills necessary in order to conduct complex and detailed analysis on various accounting Work occasionally required a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the Ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer, copiers, typewriter, facsimile, telephone and 10-key job description is intended to describe the general requirements of this position.
