Essential Functions:

Arrange and manage the transportation logistics for delivery heavy equipment to customers using heavy haul trucks. Develop shipment layouts and create a standardization in the machine shipment process. Plan and schedule truck routes to optimize delivery efficiency and ensure on-time delivery. Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to prioritize equipment for shipment based on machine ship schedules. Company liaison with freight carriers and logistics partners to negotiate rates, secure transportation capacity, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Oversee the loading and unloading of heavy equipment onto trucks, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit. Develop and maintain relationships with trucking companies, ensuring reliable and cost-effective transportation services. Monitor and track shipments in transit, providing regular updates to internal stakeholders and customers as needed. Manage and resolve any transportation-related issues or delays that may arise during the delivery process. Ensure accurate GL coding and processing of invoices related to transportation expenses. Create reports for shipments, analyzing data to optimize transportation efficiency and cost effectiveness. Arrange and track shipments, including preparing shipping documentation, scheduling pickups, and monitoring transit progress. File and track transportations claims providing recovery for lost or damaged shipments. Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking numbers, delivery dates, and transportation costs. Support continuous efforts in cost savings from a cost of freight standpoint, considering all opportunities and partnerships to leverage optimum pricing and efficiencies while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Competencies:

Proven experience in transportation management, preferably in the heavy equipment or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge and understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices. Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve transportation-related challenges. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Excel), experience with one or more TMS and ERP systems (i.e. Epicor E9-E10) and ability to quickly learn new systems.

Work Environment:

This is primarily an office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments; travel may be required. 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs at times when supporting continuous improvement activities.

Education/ Training/ Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years experience. 

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
