Summary of Job Duties

:The APRN/PA will extend the patient care and administrative services for UAMS physicians in both inpatient and/or outpatient settings. APRN/PA will be expected provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, perform procedures, and prescribe medicines and treatments. The APRN/PA will also manage health issues for patients, independently or in collaboration with the designated physicians. The APRN/PA will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patient's health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The APRN/PA will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.


Qualifications:

APRN Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree Plus Two (2) years nursing experiencewith Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN/CPN License

PA Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of Physician Assistant program with a PA license with State Medical Board.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).

Must have normal communication sensory requirement. 

Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire

Responsibilities:

Provides healthcare services to patients which may include: comprehensive care during acute and chronic episodes of injury and illness, follow up care during post-hospital clinic appointments, education and counseling of families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other health care providers and community resources when appropriate.

Participates in institutional initiatives and encourages the participation of others. 

Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.

Works autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of disciplines to diagnose and manage health care problems; will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.

Communicates and shares complete and unbiased information, assuring their colleagues receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order make informed decisions.

Coordinates the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.

Actively engage in service line meetings and take an approach to health care that shapes policies, programs, facility design, and day-to-day interactions.

Maintains required audits for credentialing.

Engages in appropriate continuing education programs, maintain mandatory competencies, medical center computer based learning modules, and health monitoring services.

Performs other duties as assigned.
