Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Business and Administrative Management, the Bookstore Manager is responsible for the campus bookstore, including books, general merchandise, operations, and inventory for the USC Sumter campus. The bookstore provides all books, supplies and merchandise necessary to support USC Sumters two- year associate degree programs as well as the four year articulated programs with other USC Aiken, USC Upstate and USC Columbia. Must possess good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree and 3 years related experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services; or equivalency. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of principles and practice of accounting, auditing, and bookkeeping; computer knowledge and experience is essential. Job Duties Job Duty Prepares monthly sales tax reports. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Responsible for the purchasing, receiving, marking and displaying of textbooks and other merchandise. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Responsible for the operation of the Point of Sale accounting/inventory system. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Confer with vendors to determine which merchandise to purchase or discontinue. Confers with faculty to determine requirements for textbooks and supplies every semester. Essential Function No Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty Organizes and supervises special and seasonal promotional activities. (Especially graduation, rings, cap and gown orders.) Essential Function No Percentage of Time 5 Job Duty Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the operations of the bookstore to provide needed services at a profit. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty Conducts annual inventory counts for annual financial statements. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 5 Job Duty Supervises the preparation of cash reports, budgetary and other record keeping processes. Responsible for recruitment, and hiring of all bookstore employees. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 5 Position Attributes Employees in Safety-Sensitive or Security-Sensitive positions will be subject to pre-employment and post-employment drug testing in accordance with University policy HR Drug and Alcohol Testing.
