Shift details:

Schedule: Monday – Friday with Saturday rotation (frequency depends on the mills being open and loggers working. Estimate about 1 Saturday per month).

Shift Time: 05:00 - 18:00

Shift Duration: DOT hours of service apply but on average 12 to 14 hour days.

Home every night

Driver PTO: Immediately - 1.5 hours per week, 6th anniversary - 2.5 hours per week per company policy

Position Details:

  • Delivering felled logs to mills.
  • Driver will be responsible for operating a tractor and bolster trailer picking up at logging sites. This involves unpaved roads and working in the elements.
  • Driver will be responsible for strapping down the logs and flagging the overhang along with the safe operation of the vehicle under load while on rural back roads and State highways with final delivery at the customers mill(s).
  • Driver must be able to follow written directions and read a paper map without the use of turn by turn navigation. Applicant must be able to demonstrate this ability in person if needed.
  • Most routes operating within 150-mile radius from Dierks, AR (Including Oklahoma and on rare occasions Texas & Louisiana).
  • Special Requirements:
  • 3 months of log truck or similar off-road experience required **Construction, flatbed, chip trucks, live haul and feed truck experience is applicable**.
  • Uniform: Over the ankle lace up steel toe boots along with hard hat and reflective safety vest must always be worn during pickup and delivery.
  • Driver will monitor the weight via onboard scale then communicate to the loader when trailer has achieved the legal weight, driver will then secure the logs by strapping and then will flag the overhanging logs per DOT requirement.
  • Driver does not load or unload but must always remain with the truck. Average load time is 30 minutes, unload time on average is 30 minutes.
  • Driver will be delivering to the customers various mills and will be checked in and weighed upon entering the mill then drive to the designated location within the mill and remove the strapping and flags then proceed to the final unloading location.
  • Driver will be operating in off road conditions which will be unpaved muddy, sandy and not always clearly marked and will need to know how to maneuver in these harsh conditions.

  • Steel toe over the ankle boots required: $75 stipend provided
  • Day Cabs pulling a four bolster log trailer.
