A Senior Cardiac Technician working in University Cardiology works under the supervision of the cardiology physicians and reports directly to the Practice Clinical Manager of the department. Must be able to identify arrhythmias and respond per department guidelines. The technician is responsible for performing 12-lead EKG's, replacement/removal of Holter monitor and Cardiac Event monitor recorders as well as the stress test electrode placement/removal and monitoring of the exercise and recovery electrocardiogram.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Previous experience (Minimum 6 months and 50 procedures in conducting exercise stress tests).

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward. Must pass initial arrhythmia course with 75% accuracy within six months of employment. Annually tested and must meet 90% accuracy.

Certified Cardiographic Technician, (CCT).
Department Position Summary:

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department policies and procedures.
