Part-Time Seasonal Museum Associate

The World of Little League® Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is looking to hire a Part-Time Seasonal Museum Associate. This position would earn $12 per hour and work flexible hours 9 AM to 4 PM. To better serve our patrons, this position works weekends. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Director, The World of Little League: Peter J. McGovern Museum. Position is subject to contingent required background checks. TRAINING IS PROVIDED FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE

ABOUT THE WORLD OF LITTLE LEAGUE® PETER J. MCGOVERN MUSEUM AND OFFICIAL STORE

Located in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the mission of the World of Little League® Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store is to inform and educate people about the history, service, goals, and initiatives of Little League® Baseball and Softball. Visitors will experience the dynamic presentation of how Little League has intertwined with U.S. and world history, and even helped to shape the industry. The museum explains how Little League became the world's leader not only in the number of participants, but in sports safety as well. The self-guided experience follows the concept of the six inning Little League game and combines a rich mixture of authentic Little League heritage, artifacts and images, cutting-edge interactives, and immersive media. All of this brings home the overall mission of Little League, which is the belief in the power of youth baseball and softball to teach life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MUSEUM ASSOCIATE AT THE WORLD OF LITTLE LEAGUE® PETER J. MCGOVERN MUSEUM AND OFFICIAL STORE

This Part-time Seasonal Museum Associate position would assist with preparing the museum each morning for visitors, assisting museum visitors by answering questions, providing occasional museum tours, assisting full-time staff with various museum projects, performing light office work, and assisting with the sale of merchandise. By doing all these activities, you have a part in continuing our mission of spreading Little League Baseball and Softball in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PART-TIME SEASONAL MUSEUM ASSOCIATE

  • A positive attitude, open mind, and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Be sociable and outgoing
  • Be comfortable working with all age groups from young children to adults
  • Computer proficiency with experience in MS Office preferred
  • Experience with a POS retail sales preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, as well as stoop and bend
  • Pursuing a degree in History or related field preferred, or have a genuine interest in history
  • Must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays
