Location: Clinton, Iowa

Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our educational team in Clinton, Iowa. The ideal candidate will provide interpretation services to facilitate effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring their full participation in the school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for students and staff
  • Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and other school personnel
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating in school activities
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to support the students' educational needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • State licensure or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (if required by Iowa state law)
  • Experience working in an educational setting is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
