Job Description

ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services (FAA NAS ESS) contract. Join our growing team as an Engineer Level 2 in support of the FAA’s AJW-1432 team. The AJW-1432 team provides support for the FAA’s Beacon Interrogator (ATCBI-5/ATCBI-6) and Surveillance and Broadcast Services Systems (SBSM/SBSS).

Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to:

Problem identificationProblem analysisSolution determination Resource identification Cost estimationSolution design DevelopmentIntegrationTestingWriting technical/management reportsCreation, review, and maintenance of technical support documentation and associated directivesProviding direct support in response to NAS related problems beyond the assigned repair capability of field personnelRecommending improvements to the design or operation of systems, equipment, or processesProviding SME technical support for new system acquisition efforts.

Responsibilities:

Performs a mixture of routine, multiple, and varying assignments under the limited direction of a Technical Manager or more experienced engineer. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team. May perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs/teams. Applies experience and detailed knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and concepts to plan and accomplish assignments. Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish assignments and small projects. Works with other employees, both contract and federal, to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and/or discuss the status of assignments. Typically receives guidance on selecting approach from a Technical Manager or more experienced engineer. May provide recommendations to improve work processes. Frequently refers difficult problems and work issues to a Technical Manager or more experienced engineer when guidelines are not available or applicable. Work is reviewed periodically during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness and technical compliance with the requirements of the project or other work activity. Work activities may affect project/program objectives of external organizations. In some areas, the work may affect the safety and security of customers.

Requirements

Engineering skills.Must be a fast learner.Proficient in programming languages and scripts is a plus.Experience working in a team environment.Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentationAbility to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required).Requires the application of knowledge of:
(a) The physical and engineering sciences and mathematics,
(b) Electrical phenomena, and
(c) The principles, techniques, and practices of electrical engineering The work pertains primarily to electrical circuits, circuit elements, equipment, systems, and associated phenomena concerned with electrical energy.Ability to design, write, and edit software is a plus.

Education/Experience:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics is required. The degree must be from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum. -OR- A degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field such as physics, aerospace, chemistry, computer science, or mathematics may be substituted in lieu of the engineering degree, depending on other qualifications and experience. Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is highly desirable. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
