Summary
The Certified Asthma Educator will be an expert in the field of Asthma/COPD disease management, including teaching, educating, managing, monitoring, and providing self-management skills to the Asthma/COPD patient, and family/caregiver. The individual will be a resource to Lee Health and the community in the field of Asthma/COPD disease management. The individual will work to identify patient and family barriers to the treatment and management of Asthma/COPD, including providing resources to address social, economic, and financial barriers.
Requirements
Educational Requirements
Degree/Diploma Obtained Program of Study Required/Preferred and/or Bachelor'sHealthcareRequired
If not already obtained, candidate must be actively enrolled in a Baccalaureate Program.
Experience Requirements
Minimum Years Required Area of Experience Required/Preferred and/or
Two years of experience in their healthcare field, including in the care of the asthma and COPD patient.
State of Florida Licensure Requirement

BLS
Required
Additional Requirements
Certified Asthma Educator through the National Board for Respiratory Care. BLS certification required. Completion and passing of the Pulmonary Disease Educator Course is required within three months from the date of hire through the American Association for Respiratory Care.
Other Requirements
Must have excellent communication skills.
