Kitchen Worker

QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma preferred. Knowledge of kitchen procedures and management. Possess a current Food Handlers Card or be able to qualify for a card after hired. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Strong math and communication skill and the ability to work as a cashier. Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds. Willingness to try new ideas. Physically able to perform assigned duties. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Cafeteria Manager.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

To serve the students and staff nutritious and attractive meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and warmth. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Knows and follows nutritional guidelines. Participates in the preparation and serving of food. Prepares and packs food to be sent to satellite schools. Participates in the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas. Knows and follows health and sanitation procedures. Performs dishwashing duties as assigned. Performs major cleaning assignments at regularly scheduled intervals as directed by the cafeteria manager. Assumes responsibility for storage and disposal of unused foods. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains accurate records and completes assigned paperwork. Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position scheduled for 17.5 hours per week during the school year. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 4 - $14.83 or $15.59 per hour depending on experience.

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Cafeteria Manager in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

This position has been given an overall physical classification of medium duty.
