As the Director II of Continuous Improvement, you will provide overall strategic leadership and oversight for continuous improvement in support of institutes, markets, or shared services, across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise. You will lead in a highly matrixed organization while ensuring inclusivity as well as collaborate with physician and administrative executive leaders to develop and deliver on vision and strategic goals of the enterprise. Responsibilities:

Leads and manages the assigned portfolio and/or program to deliver prescribed results.Responsible for advancing a culture of Continuous Improvement enterprise wide through application and adoption of the CCIM.Establishes goals and strategies for growing the ROI of CI activities.Expected to teach, coach, and mentor executive leaders in the assigned area on continuous improvement best practices.Responsible for standardizing and governing the assigned portfolio, processes, tools, and templates to ensure team's compliance as well as to maintain its integrity.Develops and manages relationships with peer group within CT and external to CT (e.g., Markets, hospitals, institutes, shared services, etc.) from identification through execution of portfolio.Leads, trains, and advises on the collection and analysis of process data to initiate, develop, and recommend practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost.Expected to teach, coach, and mentor Clinical Transformation team members to develop and enhance CI skills and practices.Assists team in navigating the organizational climate and complexities.Utilizes customer orientation and ability to clearly match support tools and services to the needs of stakeholders.Engages, develops, and manages team members through management tools including performance management, talent management, and succession plan including skills and competencies development.Encourages and enables research of best practices within and outside the organization.Partnering and establishing credibility to represent Cleveland Clinic and CI during external outreach or industry interface.Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree Required.Master's Degree required.In lieu of master’s degree, 9 years of process improvement experience or a Lean Certification may suffice.

Certifications:

Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Certification preferred.

Complexity of Work:

Effectively coaches and train teams as well as other CI caregivers around influencing others and change management concepts.Expert level of statistical analysis, CI tools (e.g., VSM, VM, 5S, Process Map, Pareto, A3, etc.) and change management techniques.Able to navigate and operate in the organization at all levels to achieve results using industry knowledge.Coach others to improve and shape communication (written/verbal/presentation/listening) in a variety of engagement-specific environments. Coach others on situational awareness and non-verbal cues.Entrusts others to carry-out specific responsibilities or achieve specific goals by providing challenging work, clear vision and direction; along with reasonable oversight to ensure quality and timeliness.The ability to gain commitment from others, negotiate expectations and "wants," cope with mixed motivations, overcome resistance, address concerns, and find a path to forward progress.Portfolio management knowledge to deliver results while balancing the capacity of the team vs the demand of the customers.Ability to assess and develop necessary skill set within assigned Continuous Improvement team.

Work Experience:

Ten years business or healthcare experience with at least seven years of experience leading process improvement, transformation, and project management.Six or more years demonstrating the ability to manage a large team of high functioning individual contributors.Experience in transformation/change agent role within an organization engaged in a Lean transformation preferred.Able to navigate and operate in the organization at all levels to achieve results using industry knowledge.Senior-level experience building and managing a team to advance and support continuous improvement throughout the enterprise.Demonstrated ability to teach/coach/influence/advise leadership at all levels regarding continuous improvement principles and practices and role of leader in a continuous improvement organization, in a complex, fast-paced, matrixed organization.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $57.19

Maximum hourly: $91.52

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
