The primary purpose of the Per Diem Healthcare Provider position is to provide assessments for nurses throughout the State of New Jersey that meet quality and quantity standards within the Nurse2Nurse Program. Performs functions in support of the Nurse2Nurse Program mission as well as the Nurse2Nurse Program project goals providing streamlined, prompt, and “consumer friendly” access to University Behavioral Health Care services. Receives telephone requests for service, undertakes clinical assessment of the service need of the client or customer, and responds by offering a scheduled appointment or making other appropriate referrals or disposition. Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs of nurses and applying relevant assessment and treatment skills with regard to a wide range of clinical issues and an age group that includes ages 15 years through 65 plus. A capacity for assessment services and management of all situations for law enforcement officers and their families will also be required.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: As part of the Nurse2Nurse team, actively participates in ensuring the telephone calls/service requests are handled in an effective and “consumer friendly” manner. Assesses telephone service requests/referrals and responds in accordance with prescribed Nurse2Nurse procedures. Assesses client’s clinical condition in order to make/authorize an appropriate disposition. Acquires familiarity with other UBHC units, outside providers, and other pertinent organizations and resources, in order to facilitate telephone activities, develop work relationships, and provide information and guidance to callers. Assists in supervision of daily operations of the Nurse2Nurse program when needed. Conforms to unit policies relating to functional needs of the Nurse2Nurse program. Conducts professional and employee responsibilities in a manner that promotes unit and UBHC objectives. As part of the Nurse2Nurse team unit, performs tasks specific to the requirements of the project. Completes employee health update as required. Completes all mandatory educational requirements on an annual basis. Provides Accreditation and Standards Department and Human Resources copies of any degree requirements, new licenses or new credentials acquired over this last year.
