Position Summary

In conjunction with Delaware County Community College’s Mission and Values, Adjunct Social Work Instructors are responsible for providing quality instruction to students in Social Work courses at the College.

It is the responsibility of the instructors to be knowledgeable of the content they teach as well as able to convey that content in a manner that is accessible to the College’s diverse student population. Along with learning and growing the College’s culture, Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for providing students with the ability to take their knowledge and apply it to their future coursework and/or the career arc of their choosing.

Special need for Adjunct Faculty to teach days and evenings courses at the following locations:- PENNOCKS BRIDGE (West Grove) & DOWNINGTOWN

Essential Functions

Essential Functions

  1. Plan and provide content instruction to students enrolled in their section(s).
  2. Hold an office hour per week, per section taught, to meet with students concerning course content and other individual needs
  3. Assess the knowledge of students enrolled and submit grades representative of their knowledge and achievement on assessments
  4. Connect students with the campus resources that will best supplement the needs of the students enrolled in your section(s)
  5. Supplement the material taught in lecture by leading hands-on and interactive spaces
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Functions
  1. Attend all professional development and training sessions offered to new and veteran Adjunct Faculty at the College
  2. Meet with Course Coordinators/Custodians to familiarize yourself with the content you teach and how that fits into the larger academic programs your students are enrolled in
  3. Maintain relevant course materials and information (syllabus, assignments, grades, etc.) in Canvas
  4. Attend formal observation meetings with the Assistant Dean, BCSS and/or Site Director to gain input on your teaching acumen and discuss ways in which you can improve

Experience & Education


Minimum Experience : 3 years of work experience in the field. Teaching experience at the college level preferred but not required.

Minimum Education : Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Services, or related field. The Licensed Clinical Social Work credential is preferred.
