The Janitorial Maintenance Services unit provides professional custodial services to governmental facilities and businesses throughout New York City. For more than two decades, we have promoted the transformative power of work in our community by training and hiring employees with histories of incarceration and disabilities in a supportive environment. Osborne Janitorial Maintenance Services cleans more than one million square feet of office space. As a Janitorial Porter, you will be responsible for performing a range of custodial duties, ensuring that our premises are clean, well-maintained, and presentable at all times. This position operates in compliance with the requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Article 9 guidelines. The hourly wage will be commensurate with experience and NYC Comptroller Prevailing Wage Schedule.
Salary Range: $22.42-$29.97 per hour
Essential Duties:
Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, to ensure a clean and hygienic environment. Collect and dispose of trash and waste materials in designated containers, adhering to proper disposal procedures and safety guidelines. Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, replenishing supplies as necessary. Maintain the cleanliness of floors by mopping, buffing, and applying appropriate floor treatments, ensuring safety and appearance standards are met. Dust and wipe surfaces, furniture, windows, and fixtures to maintain a clean and polished appearance. Monitor and restock janitorial supplies, ensuring an adequate supply is available at all times. Report any inventory needs to the supervisor. Maintain and clean janitorial equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mop buckets, and cleaning carts, ensuring they are in good working condition. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing cleaning tasks, ensuring the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of cleaning chemicals. Report any maintenance or repair issues, safety hazards, or unusual situations to the supervisor promptly. Strip, wax & buff corridors and rooms Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, replenishing supplies as necessary Ensure all equipment is clean and stocked at the end of the day Maintaining building operations by inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of the facility, cleaning and/or recommending corrective action to be taken Adherence to New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) Article 9 Guidelines: Follow the regulations and requirements outlined in the New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) guidelines to ensure compliance in all aspects of janitorial operations In-person attendance is required to collaborate with co-workers Perform other duties as assigned RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Permits or certificates in skilled trades are desirable Prior experience in janitorial or custodial services is preferred Successful completion and graduation of The Osborne Social Venture (OSV) programKey Competencies:
