PURPOSE
The Marketing Copy Writer, under the supervision of the Marketing Coordinator, provides strategic writing and editing skills necessary to assist in the creation of targeted media, including digital and print advertising, recruitment messaging campaigns, and branding projects for both internal and external audiences. Identifies, researches, and creates written content for print, multimedia, and online.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Marketing Writing
Percent Effort: 60%
Researches, writes, and edits marketing content for print and digital advertising, brand manuals/usage guides, posters, fact sheets, campaign materials, events, promotional signage, and other university initiatives.
Performs research interviews with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Attends meetings and other activities necessary for strategic content development.
Functional Area 2: Editing
Percent Effort: 20%
Proofreads and provides editing for marketing materials.
Functional Area 3: Accolades Tracking
Percent Effort:10%
Curates and manages a repository of university achievements and accolades for incorporation into marketing copy.
Functional Area 4: Administrative
Percent Effort: 10%
Assists in preparing marketing briefs and presentations.
Contributes to the effective team management of relevant problems, issues, and opportunities.
Works closely with other communications staff to ensure timeliness and quality of final products.
Assists in developing and updating content for the university brand guide.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or marketing.
Additional experience may be considered as a substitute for the minimum education requirement: Associate's degree in a related field with two years of related experience.
Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Knowledge of promotional, factual writing styles, and publication procedures.
Expert in AP Writing Style.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in working within a marketing or advertising team.
Two years of related experience in promotional and educational writing.
Experience working within brand guides or standards.
Expert knowledge of project management with experience using a project management tool.
SALARY: $40, - $45,/annually.
$3,.34 - $3,/monthly.
Salary is dependent upon education and/or experience.
