Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field.

Professional Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to communicate collaboratively and effectively with students, parents,
instructional staff, and the administration.
Previous experience working with students with behavior challenges is preferred.
Strong understanding of behavioral principles, interventions, and PBIS.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in the well-being of students.

Organizational Relationships: The Behavior Interventionist will report directly to the building
principal and will work directly with the Student Success Liaison and/or School Success Worker
establishing a consistent culture that promotes positive interactions and maintains a safe and positive
learning environment to foster student success and achievement. The Behavior Interventionist will
help maintain a safe and positive environment for students by enforcing discipline, coaching staff on
positive classroom practices, focusing on consistent attendance of students, and engaging in
promoting PBIS by working with staff.

Qualified candidates should skillfully demonstrate the following competencies:
The strong desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students.
The skill and willingness to leverage the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
system to ensure that students social emotional needs are addressed.

Required Professional Preparation and Experience:
Experience working with students in a K-12 public school setting.
Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of childhood behavior issues and social/emotional development.
Knowledge of and ability to handle emotionally charged situations and to implement de-
escalation techniques.
Training and experience with PBIS, or willing to be trained.
Knowledge of research-based behavior management techniques and strategies.
Strong interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students.
Familiarity with special education.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to build relationships across a diverse group of students.
Belief that all students will be successful.
Knowledge of active violence procedures and use of trauma kits.

Major Responsibilities:
A first responder for student misbehavior.
Mentor at-risk students.
Accurately monitor and analyze daily student attendance and discipline.
Support the implementation of the schools social-emotional curriculum and PBIS programs.
Work closely and effectively with children who have behavior challenges and their families.
Assist teachers in implementing classroom procedures and systems that support
social/emotional learning.
Contribute to the implementation of detailed systems that ensure an effective school day: i.e.
classroom transitions, morning arrival, end of day departures, school-wide transitions, cafeteria
protocol, playground/recess protocol etc.
Monitor the lunchroom, hallway and restroom areas daily.
Support classroom teachers when needed.
Track and monitor discipline referrals and notify the PBIS team when data needs to be
reviewed.
Spend time, even beyond the school day, preparing and planning for discipline follow up.
Work with administration to ensure implementation and accuracy of disciplinary systems.
Be available for consultation with parents, students, administration, and peers outside the
school day, as needed.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Assessing and addressing student behavior issues, collaborating with teachers and parents,
implementing behavior intervention plans, and providing support to help students succeed
academically, socially, and emotionally.
