Summary

The Capstone Coordinator, reports to the Chair of Occupational Therapy and is responsible for the planning and management of all occupational therapy student capstone experiences. The Capstone Coordinator should be committed to ensuring that the doctoral capstone experience reflects the sequence and scope of the content in the curriculum design and allows for development of in-depth applied knowledge in one of the following areas: clinical practice skills, research skills, administration, leadership, program and policy development, advocacy, education, or theory development. The Capstone Coordinator has 50 % release time for non-teaching responsibilities. The position requires travel to clinical sites, seminars, and conferences.

The ideal candidate would have experience in design and coordination of capstone projects at the doctoral level. The job requires oversight of capstone relations and activities, oversight of capstone site selection and contracts, as well as conducting duties of scholarship and data management. Responsibilities include obtaining and maintaining capstone contracts, in coordination with the fieldwork faculty and with various healthcare facilities; working directly with the AFWC, OT Department Chair, OT Faculty and with occupational therapy students to provide high quality scholarly education experiences in a variety of settings; promoting excellence, integrity and service in all interactions. Job Requirements Education:
Required: Doctoral Degree Required: Must hold an Occupational Therapy Degree awarded by an accredited Occupational Therapy Program. Experience:
Preferred: A minimum of 4 years of clinical experience, including 2+ years supervising fieldwork students. Preferred: Prior experience as Capstone Coordinator. Preferred: A minimum of 3 years teaching in higher education. Skills:
Excellent organizational and communication skills Outstanding negotiation and conflict resolution skills Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships in all areas of the college and community Ability to work in a team focused environment with multiple programs in an academic setting Must maintain confidentiality at all times Must be highly motivated, self-directed, requiring minimal supervision Must be outgoing and able to conduct self in a professional manner that will reflect positively on the college Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills) Knowledge of the fieldwork standards and fieldwork supervision Effectively mentor and advise students in relation to fieldwork education issues Familiarity with Springfield, MO and surrounding areas is preferred. Licensure/Certification: All candidates must be initially certified by NBCOT and be eligible for OT Licensure in Missouri. Obtain and provide Cox College a copy of State of Missouri Licensure before date of hire.
