This position is responsible for overseeing the nursing team at Independence Hall and Grove St. locations, conducting nursing and medication assessments for clients at admission, overseeing the dispensing of medication, monitoring patient health progress, delivering health education groups, and providing case management services. This position would be under the general supervision of the Clinical Director. This individual would be based out of the 59 South St, Shrewsbury, MA location, but may have to travel to our headquarters in Worcester.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY:

  • Provides supervision and management of designated staff. Responsible for timely performance reviews for all staff and developing goals with staff input. Responsible for coordinating with Human Resources regarding disciplinary measures, employee relations and employee training and development. Responsible for authorizing and approving staff time, attendance and reimbursement requests as set forth in Veterans Inc. policy and procedures. Orientates and/or trains new personnel as required.
  • Coordinates patient's care to assure procedures, treatments, transfers, and/or referrals are completed in a timely manner, encompassing standards of clinical nursing practice and Veterans Inc. policies. Oversees the health and nursing care of assigned patients while monitoring their progress towards treatment goals.
  • Manage partnerships with outside providers and pharmacies.
  • Ensure compliance with DPH and BSAS rules and regulations regarding medical standards relating to licensing.
  • Oversee the audit of medication supervision records (medication books) at Independence Hall and Grove St. locations. Advise Recovery Specialist Supervisor regarding accuracy of medication supervision and documentation at IH. Responsible for safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, and Board of Pharmacy.
  • Review applications for admission of new patients to determine appropriateness of admission for treatment.
  • Develop short and long-term goals for nursing department at Independence Hall and Grove St. locations. Establish new policies and update existing policies to improve the standard of care for patients Independence Hall and Grove St. locations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and program managers regarding patient status, program expectations and rules, and implementation of policies for programs.
  • Oversight of confidential HIV risk assessment, oversight of compliance with DPH requirements for admission, service planning, and discharge of HIV positive clients; Coordinating access to testing and linkage services; and providing staff and client education on HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and sexually transmitted diseases/infections.
  • Responsible for ensuring clinical programs include HIV/AIDS and Tobacco Cessation curriculum.
  • Works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide substance abuse treatment and counseling to patients enrolled in the program.
  • Consistently performs nursing skills according to standards of clinical nursing practice.
  • Provides medication education and administers medications as ordered by the Medical Manager and maintains accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed.
  • Collects and processes drug screenings as needed. Reads test results as ordered by the Medical Manager and ensures the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
  • Attends and participates in all meetings as required.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree required.
  • Must have current Nursing license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year supervising nursing staff.
  • Experience providing nursing care on a substance abuse treatment setting highly valued.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check.
  • Compliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.
