Job Summary:
The Electron Microscopy Core Facility at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a fee for service core facility providing biological transmission electron microscopy services to a wide variety of health-related disciplines ranging from basic research to translational medicine. The incoming research associate will assist the core director by providing training and support to the users of the core facility, and by handling sample preparation and instrument operation. Duties include biological sample processing and plastic embedding; thick and ultrathin sectioning; negative staining; operation of 120 kV transmission electron microscope; maintaining detailed records of all processed specimens; maintaining online scheduling, project tracking and billing within the iLab system.
Over the past few years, the EM core has experienced an increase in demand for EM services, particularly for cutting-edge electron microscopy technologies. The incoming recruit will play a crucial role within this core, collaborating closely with the core director to identify emerging methodologies and necessary instruments for CU Anschutz investigators, ensuring that the core continues to provide essential services efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to users for experimental design, sample preparation for transmission and scanning electron microscopy, ultrathin sectioning, staining, immunogold labeling, and image acquisition. Troubleshooting and optimizing laboratory protocols and instrumentation.Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.
