REPORTS TO: Advanced Ship Building Manager

SUPERVISES: As assigned

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Management in the evaluation and implementation of process improvements within the manufacturing facilities, engineering and support departments. Coach leadership in the use and implementation of Continuous Improvement principles. Work directly with Trade Management to identify specific problems, or opportunities that can be improved with the implementation of various aspects of Lean, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement methodologies. Solicit input from the workforce to identify opportunities within the shipyard that can be improved with the implementation of improvement methodologies, advanced tooling or technology. Lead, facilitate or oversee the implementation of identified improvement opportunities. Standardize procedures, systems, metrics and report structure to capture opportunities, implementation and results. Provide training to workforce as required. This position description is not all-inclusive. Employee will perform other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

BS in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or similar field preferred; or 5 years of process experience . At least 2 years of experience in identification and implementation of production improvements in shipbuilding or a similar manufacturing environment through the use of Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, or other process improvement methodology. Six Sigma Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred. Proficient in the use of standard office computer software including Microsoft windows and office components. Flexible to support all shifts as required to meet job duties. Result oriented with strong problem solving and organizational skills. Excellent analytical, organizational / planning, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills are required. Professional, motivated and able to work proactively & autonomously.

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, + 90 dB.
